Phone Guide: Transferring Calls

This guide covers how to transfer calls, and the different ways a call can be transferred.

Note: This guide can be used for models T54W, T57W, and T53W.

During a call, you can transfer the call to another contact.

You can use one of three ways:

  • Blind Transfer: Transfer a call directly to the third party without consulting.
  • Semi-Attended Transfer: Transfer a call when receiving ringback.
  • Attended Transfer (Consultative Transfer): Transfer a call with prior consulting.

How to Complete A Blind Transfer

You can transfer a call to another contact immediately without consulting them first.

Procedure

  1. Press the TRANSFER key or Transfer during a call.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. Enter the number or select a contact from the placed call list you want to transfer to.
    2. If you have set a Speed Dial key, you can also press the Speed Dial key to directly transfer the call to the contact.
    3. Press Directory. Select the desired contact from the Directory list.
      On the T57W phones, tap the Directory or History. Tap the desired contact.
  3. Press B Transfer or the TRANSFER key to complete the transfer.

How to complete a Semi-Attended transfer

Procedure

  1. Press the TRANSFER key or select Transfer during a call.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. Enter the number or select a contact from the placed call list you want to transfer the call to.
    2. Select Directory. Select the desired contact from the Directory list. (On the T57W phones, select Directory or History. Select the desired contact.)
  1. Press the OK key or select Send.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. When you hear the ringback tone, press the TRANSFER key or Transfer to finish a semi-attended transfer.
    2. After the contact answers the call, press the TRANSFER key or Transfer to finish an attended transfer (consultative transfer).

How to complete an Attended transfer

You can transfer the call to the monitored contact in the semi-attended/attended-transfer way during a call.

Before You Begin: Check with your system administrator if the Transfer Mode via Dsskey is set to Attended Transfer.

Procedure

  1. During a call, press the BLF key of the monitored line to which you want to transfer this call. The phone will dial out the number of the monitored line.
  2. Press the BLF key of the monitored line again or Transfer to complete the transfer when the monitored user receives a ringback or after the monitored user answers the call.

Transferred Calls Cannot be Retrieved: Once a call has been transferred, you can no longer retrieve it. We encourage you to use our "Park" feature in the event you need to attend a call. Visit this page for more details Call Park: How to use the Call Park feature
