How to Pick Up a Call from Another Extension
GreenLink phones allow users to answer calls ringing at another extension by using the Call Pickup feature.
This feature is helpful in office environments where team members may need to answer calls for coworkers, reception desks, shared departments, or unattended phones.
The Call Pickup feature uses the following format:
** + Extension Number
This command allows you to answer a call currently ringing at another extension directly from your own phone.
Example
If extension 105 is ringing and you want to answer the call from your phone:
Dial: **105
Your phone will immediately connect to the incoming call for extension 105.
Procedure
- Pick up your handset or press the speakerphone button on your phone.
- Dial:
** followed by the extension number you want to pick up. - Once entered, your phone will connect to the active incoming call on that extension.
Common Uses for Call Pickup
This feature is commonly used for:
- Reception or front desk coverage
- Shared office environments
- Support or sales teams
- Assisting coworkers when they are away from their desk
- Preventing missed calls
Important Notes
- The extension must currently be ringing for the pickup to work.
- You must know the extension number of the ringing phone.
- Depending on your phone system configuration, permissions or feature availability may vary.
